In view of contributing to the sustainable development of the fashion industry, TROPIC is exploring new horizons and is happy to introduce the Waste to Wear Fashion! What is it about?
Waste to Wear Fashion is about repurposing waste from the cutting section of our factories and transforming them into new fashionable wears. So doing, we are not only avoiding the creation of new materials from natural resources, but we are also reducing the amount of textile waste which may end up in landfills.
Yes, waste is now a valuable resource!
As at date, TROPIC has produced 2,200 new garments out of 800kg of fabric waste collected from the cutting section of its factories.
This initiative may, if applied on the long-term and by other fellow apparel manufacturers, help reduce the need for new raw materials, energy and water consumptions in the textile manufacturing process – thus leading to reducing the environmental impact of the textile industry.
Challenging the status quo
By creating a closed-loop system whereby waste is being recycled and repurposed into new and fashionable garments, TROPIC is opening up new horizons and bringing a breath of fresh air to the textile industry. Through this initiative, the group is adopting a disruptive approach to fashion and challenging the traditional and linear processes to fashion production. This new perspective will not only help reduce the impact of the fashion industry on the environment but can also lead to innovative fashion designs, exciting creative processes and new business perspectives.
